Listen O' man, when you were born, you had no religion, no faith;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you were not carrying any paraphernalia to
perform rites and rituals;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you were not wearing the sacred thread or the
sword;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you had no dignity of your own;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you knew nothing about yourself;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you had no lust for worldly wealth;
Listen O' man, when you were born, your heart was free from pride;
Listen O' man, when you were born, you were not jealous towards anyone.
You have put the noose around your neck yourself and you are carrying headland of
rites and rituals;
Avtar says, all that is visible is a mere delusion.

Meaning
Here Baba Avtar Singh ji explains that man, as he ages, he digresses from the path of spirituality. Carries the burden of things which are all perishable.
He says, when man is born, he doesn’t have any religion or faith. He’s not born with the stuff used for performing rites and rituals.
He was not born wearing the sacred thread or the sword. He’s not born with any dignity of his own. You knew nothing about yourself.
You had no desires for material possessions. Your heart was pure and was free from pride. You didn’t bring any feelings of anger against anyone. Now you are carrying these burdens of rituals with you.
All that is visible is a mere illusion.
